AN ORIGINAL solo exhibition will launch Cabarita's newest art gallery the Caba Arti Gallery.

Tanglewood artist Liz White will be the first artist to showcase her work as part of her A Tangled Would exhibition.

One of the pieces on exhibition is titled the Rape of Cabarita.

"I like to try to make a statement," Ms White said.

"The rape of Cabarita is a picture of trees.

"If you look more closely you'll see a glimmer of development though the tree lines.

"But you'd have to look very closely to see a shape of a raped woman in the picture.

"I guess it's a metaphor of the rape of the forest."

Ms White said viewers would have to look very hard to find the woman.

"Most will have to go back and search," she said.

"The intention of A Tangle Would is a suggestion, taking a bit of responsibility of what's happening."

The passionate artist enjoys all forms of art but more recently she's got into felting.

The gallery, which has only been open a month, will host Ms White's work from January 25 for one week.

Gallery owner Elaine Green said Caba Arti's aim was to showcase artists from the regions but to also offer creative classes.

Oil painting classes, from the 22nd of January, is just one of many classes that will be available.
