WITH the temperature gauge raising in South East Queensland, it was a perfect day to head to the beach on Wednesday

With most of the surfing community awaiting the arrival of more swell from Cyclone Freda and favourable winds from the south, the beach was mainly a holiday maker's domain today.

Rainbow Bay had a huge crowd on hand to enjoy the sunny weather. North easterly winds made the surf a little choppy but the swimmers did not seem to mind a bit with all sorts of water activity taking place from beach footy to classic catches tennis ball catching in the shallows. The local lifeguards and lifesavers were on hand to monitor conditions as swell is expected to hit over the next 48hrs, from about 900 nautical miles of the coast Cyclone Freda continues to blow and blow hard.

Lifesavers were also called upon to tend to the odd blue bottle sting to the leg but this is to be expected with the north easterly wind we have had.

Blue bottles get blown down and in towards land from tropical waters to the Gold Coast's north.

It was umbrella city on the dry sand at Rainbow with all sorts of colours and shapes of shade apparatus on display. You can't beat a summer's day at the beach in South East Queensland.
