A HEALTHY field of more than 140 nominations have been received for the first taste of Saturday night racing at Lismore.

A six-week trial of the scheme gets underway this Saturday, with the club hoping it proves popular.

Headlining the action is boom greyhound Scissor Queen, which is aiming for her 12th consecutive win when it goes in race two.

Greyhound Racing NSW and the club will assess the success of the scheme, which will run until February 16, before further investigating whether it could become permanent.

"To get such a large number of nominations for Saturday's meeting is fantastic and indicates that participants in the Northern Rivers region of NSW are supportive of the late night racing concept," GRNSW chief executive Brent Hogan said.

"We will also evaluate the wagering support the late night meetings receive, which is critical to race fields' revenue generated by the meetings.

The first race on Saturday will jump at 9.13pm, with the final race to be run just before midnight at 11.57pm.
