THIS weekend the Murwillumbah Leukaemia and Cancer Research Society is hosting a second hand book sale with books priced from as little as 20 cents.

The book sale will be held at the Anglican Church undercroft in Murwillumbah on Saturday and Sunday and will have a variety of books for sale from medical, craft, cooking, children's, religious and romance.

President of the society Christine Smith has been involved in the sale for four years, and says the sale has been running for more than 20 years.

"We've got thousands of books to sell, you name it and we've got the book," Mrs Smith says.

"The money goes directly to the Royal Children's Hospital Brisbane to research for the children's foundation, with funds also given to palliative care

"We usually raise around $600 to $700 each sale

"We get bags and bags of books in. It's an ongoing sale, every two months we hold the sale

"We receive many donations of books that people bring in

"Not all books sell every year, so we reuse them for the next sale."

With books from 20 cents and the most expensive being sold for only three dollars you'll be sure to grab a bargain read as well as supporting a great cause.
