BRUCE Morcombe has taken TV producers and executives to task over the trivialisation of murder.

Mr Morcombe, father of abducted and murdered Palmwoods teenager Daniel Morcombe, has hit out at crime shows glorifying "the most horrendous of crimes".

He took to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Facebook page on Wednesday to air his grievances after seeing 20 minutes of new Channel 10 show Mr and Mrs Murder.

The show, featuring actors Shaun Micallef and Kat Stewart as husband-and-wife crime scene cleaners and amateur sleuths, describes itself as "a warm and witty whodunit; delivering murder mysteries with a smile."

Mr Morcombe said the name of the show and its use of the word "murder" were what he took offence to.

"What is the fascination with murder by TV show producers and network programmers?" he wrote online.

"Are we the only people who find the subject revolting? Take it as fact, you do not want anyone you know to

experience this most horrendous of crimes.

"To trivialise such violence on TV is nothing short of a disgrace."

He listed TV hits Bones, NCIS and CSI, but made specific mention of the show's name, Mr and Mrs Murder, as "overstepping what is acceptable".

"Vote with your remote and switch these baboons off. Murder is NOT entertainment," he said.

"You don't have TV shows called Mr and Mrs Rape or Mr and Mrs Child Molester, so why do we put up with this?"

Channel 10 declined to comment.
