Bulls' Noffke frustrated Feldman not considered for Aus side

AUSTRALIA'S fast bowling casualty ward may be growing the day, but Queensland's best quicks continue to get ignored.

Statistics don't lie, and the Bulls' Luke Feldman, Ben Cutting and Cameron Gannon are as good as any other quick bowler in this country.

But still, they wait patiently for the national selectors to come calling.

Tasmanian Jackson Bird was called into replace the injured Ben Hilfenhaus in the Australian squad for the Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka, Bird's Sheffield Shield-leading 27 wickets given as the reason for the call-up.

But Feldman is right behind him with 25 of his own, and he certainly hasn't been the only shining light in the Bulls' pace armoury.

The defending Shield champions have also been well-served by Cutting (22 wickets) and Gannon (18).

Bulls bowling coach Ashley Noffke admitted he was frustrated his bowlers weren't getting the media exposure they deserved in order to help their chances of picking up baggy green caps.

"It is a bit frustrating. Over time, people have said it's easier for Queensland bowlers to pick up wickets at the Gabba than anywhere else," he said.

"But I've seen plenty of good bowlers come up here and not take wickets."

While Cutting has been a consistent performer for the Bulls in recent seasons, the rise of Feldman and Gannon has impressed Noffke.

"Cameron has taken those wickets in just three Shield games, which is extraordinary," he said.

"He's very tall, about 6'5". He got Michael Clarke out twice earlier this season for not many, before he hit those two double hundreds."

Feldman also dismissed Test opener David Warner twice in that game at Allan Border Field last month, with Noffke saying the former Charters Towers policeman was not scared of any opponent he faced.

Noffke said his star bowlers did not worry about the lack of press they were getting, saying they were simply focussing on learning to be more patient in order to continue building pressure on opposition batsmen.
