Calling all card sharks, it's poker time in Tweed South

YOU'VE got to know when to hold 'em for free poker at South Tweed Tavern this Saturday.

In its fifth week, the National Pub Poker League Texas Hold'em poker tournament has been drawing the attention of card sharks and newbies alike.

Winners will take home a $50 pub voucher, invite to the monthly cash final and NPPL merchandise to compliment some well earned bragging rights.

South Tweed Tavern licensee Brad Heffernan said it was hard to find a club without poker in Queensland and he was noticing the event building each week in Tweed.

"It's everywhere, getting hard to find a club that doesn't run it north of the border."

He hoped people would come down to have a friendly game and chill out in the tavern's relaxed atmosphere.

"It's about getting more bums in seats," he said.

Tournament hosts will be on hand to help out amateurs and answer questions on the night.
