NEW details have emerged of dramatic rescues carried out by the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg based helicopters in flood ravaged Queensland.

The Maroochydore-based helicopter rescued a family of seven from Maryborough after the family's house was inundated on Sunday.

" Grandma, mum, dad, four children from one week old infant to 16 - hopped in ute at midnight last night and drove 100metres to a nearby paddock on higher ground,'' an  AGL Action Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said.

The chopper landed and airlifted the family over two trips to Tiaro police station.

Later the same helicopter headed north to Pioneers Rest where a family, mum dad and seven month old infant were on the roof of a two storey house.

The first floor was completely underwater.

"Mum and bub winched together using rescue basket.

"Dad and aircrewman Rick Harvey followed with Dad secured in,'' AGL's spokesperson said.

The Maroochydore based crew then rescued an elderly man trapped in a house, ankle deep in water which was rising fast.

The crew winched onto a  small verandah at back and managed to enter through a side door.

After being helped outside, he was  winched on board the helicopter along with the crewman.

The crewman even managed to save the man's 17 year old dog by securing it in a back-pack and carrying it on his back during the winch.

In North Bundaberg, a couple in their 30s were winched from their home in Handbury Road.

In an operation, an oxygen dependent 57 year old woman from Gundiah, south of Tiaro, was airlifted to Marybrough Hospital.

The Bundaberg AGL helicopter crews also flat out

Rescue 512 airlifted two people stranded by flood waters in North Bundaberg to higher ground.

The crew were also dispatched to Moore Park where a 70-year-old woman was very ill.

She was airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital as ambulance crews were unable to get to her around flood waters.

Bundaberg crew then winched an elderly couple in their 60s from the roof of their Fairymead home (near Point Bundaberg). They were taken to the evacuation centre at Barber Park.

Rescue 512 has also been flying around Fairymead area with a PA system asking residents to self evacuate (as per police request).
