AS temperatures reached the low 30s, parents facing the traditional holiday problem of how to entertain the kids had an easy solution Wednesday.

Many Tweed residents and visitors bundled their offspring in the family car and drove them to Murwillumbah's Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre (TRAC) to cool down and enjoy the fantastic facilities on offer.

Aquatic facilities supervisor Glenn Nott said the pool attracted plenty of holidaymakers and staff had opened the extremely popular waterslide.

"The weather is absolutely fantastic and we've opened the slide as well as the diving boards at the indoor pool," Mr Nott said.

Visitor Karan Morrisey from Goonengerry brought her two kids, Joseph and Grace, to the pool and watched the kids enjoy the waterslide.

"We're here visiting friends and with weather like this, the pool is a great place to be," Mrs Morrisey said.

"The aquatic centre has fantastic facilities and the kids are having a great time."

Young Caleb Booth from Dungay could also be found at the waterslide and couldn't get enough.

"I enjoy going fast and you really get up some speed coming down the hill," Caleb said.

Abby and Ryan Grace joined their cousin Imogen Andrews at the pool and said they came to the centre for some good old fashioned holiday fun.

Mackenzie Booth was at the centre with his family and friends to celebrate his 15th birthday.

"This is much better than going to the cinema or something like that," Mackenzie said.

Murwillumbah's TRAC opens Monday to Friday from 5.30 am until 7pm, Saturdays from 5.30 am until 6pm and Sundays and Public Holidays from 10am until 5pm.

The centre features a 50-metre pool, toddler leisure pool and giant waterslide as well as a 25 metre pool, diving boards and hydrotherapy pool.

Qualified Austswim teachers offer intensive holiday swimming lessons at affordable prices.

Apart from the Murwillumbah pool, the Tweed also has aquatic centres in South Tweed Heads and in Kingscliff.
