ANTI coal seam gas protesters are on the war path with a fleet of patrol vans being launched to "keep a close eye on the activities of CSG companies Metgasco and Arrow."

"It's going to be a long hot summer in the battle against CSG in the Northern Rivers," community watch member Daniel John Peterson said.

"This initiative will help communities fight the incursion of CSG activities in their localities," he said.

"A small fleet of marked and unmarked CSG monitoring vehicles will be equipped with the latest electronic equipment to monitor and record information and to inform the public on the movements of CSG companies.

"Daily updates will be made available on Twitter and Facebook to give communities warning of pending threats in their localities and to give threatened communities the 'heads up' to mobilise."

Lock the Gate - Tweed's Michael McNamara said it was important for the community to remain vigilant in its fight against coal seam gas mining.

"We have a rig watch program on the Tweed and encourage people to be alert.

"There's no immediate threat in the Tweed, but we remain opposed to CSG mining at every opportunity."

Mr Peterson said CSG mining was a "sneaky industry."

"These companies also have a poor track record for environmental compliance, so we will be monitoring that aspect as well," said Phillipe Dupuy of Northern Rivers Community Watch.
