CUDGEN Indigenous poet Ashley Byrnes is devoted to helping "the broken hearted" and has recently published his latest poetry offering Me to You to reflect on the emotions between men and women and to inspire those who have lost love.

Mr Byrnes was born and raised in the Tweed and is the eldest of six siblings that grew up facing many challenges.

"My brothers, sisters and I were all raised under a life of alcohol and violence and they were very turbulent times," Mr Byrnes said.

Although not successful at every endeavour, Mr Byrnes escaped his chequered past and became a speaker and author which allowed him to share his life experiences, culture, facts and wisdom with the world and his people of the Aboriginal tribes of Australia.

"Through my books and speaking engagements, I'm interested in correcting history, empowering people and human life as a whole," he said.

"I love writing poetry for women.

"Reminding the reader of the love, emotion and desires living within us, helping the reader to reflect, heal and remember the need for love, desire and passion, the deep emotions of love between a man and a woman."
