CUDGEN Headland Surf Life Saving Club had a successful weekend at the Surf Life Saving NSW Stramit Country Championships.

Cudgen Headland SLSC director of surf sports Cheryl Cain said it was one of their best competitions with Cudgen coming second over all.

"A great achievement," she said.

"We had lots of winners."

Under 15s competitor Luke Chaffer walked away with "lots and lots of medals."

A total of 104 competitors came from Cudgen's club alone.

"We had right from under 8s to opens," Ms Cain said.

"We did really well and the men's open competed and won the Taplain by a country mile.

"It really shows the depth of our club

"We're very proud that we took it out really easily."

The club have bumped their position from fourth place at last year's competition to second at this year's.

Solid racing from Josh Jones, Tom Swift, Luke Chaffer, Scott McCartney and Jarrad Cain contributed to the overall result.

The competition, held in South West Rocks, went from Friday and finished up on Monday.

NSW Surf Life Saving surf sports manager Daniel Pearce said South West Rocks has hosted the championships for the past four years and about 1400 competitors attended.

"The far north coast has been a big supporter of the event," Mr Pearce said.
