POP-punk sensation Blink 182 are set to rock stages and die-hard fan Luke Mortimer will be pushing his way to the front this Friday.

Luke, a true fan for more than a decade, and also a journalist at Mydailynews.com.au, declared his love for the American trio just over 12 months ago when he got their 2003 album cover tattooed on his back.

"A group of four of us got it," he said.

"Back then I was partying like crazy and it seemed to represent my carefree life at that stage."

The decision to get inked was an easy one for Luke, but he still didn't tell his girlfriend.

"My girlfriend absolutely hates it,

"I didn't tell her because I knew she'd argue about it so I just got it and it's not like she can erase it.

"She was only angry about it for a little while."

But, Luke has no regrets when it comes to his ink.

"Even when I'm old it will still be a good memory," he said.

"It's kind of funny to think about being 60 with a Blink tattoo and still listening to them."

Luke got into the band when he was about 10-years-old and was introduced to them by a mate.

"The first song I heard was Adam's Song," he said.

And the love just grew from there.

This is the first time Luke has seen his idols in the flesh and hopes Friday gig is what he is expecting.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform live and to enjoy their usual interesting antics," he said.

Although he's excited to see the band, he is sad drummer Travis Barker, who survived a light plane crash in 2008, wasn't able to get on the plane due to a fear of flying.

"I'm a bit disappointed, but I probably wouldn't get on a plane if I was on a plane crash, but there are still cruise ships," he said.
