MURWILLUMBAH East Primary School students went to town with two musicals last week.

On Wednesday a very receptive audience witnessed two highly entertaining and very polished musicals produced by the staff and students.

Music teacher Beth Brooks said the performance was spectacular and so it should be, the students worked extremely hard over the last few months to perfect their performances.

"They were wonderful," she said.

"It hones into the creativity of the children.

"It's just as important as sport is for them and it's very good for their self esteem."

The K-2 students presented The Blunder Down Under, a captivating story filled with loveable characters and many catchy songs performed by the chorus.

The primary children showcased their acting talents supported by the beautiful singing of a large chorus in a mystical play called Dragon Girl.

"All of our students were involved in the performance which gives everyone the opportunity to explore and develop their acting and singing skills," school learning support officer Kerry Makin said.

"Working with the whole school on these shows can be challenging but we are determined that everyone be included and the results were phenomenal."

The school produces a musical every two years and Mrs Brooks, who has worked at the school since 1993, said they were always great fun.
