Flood memories remain raw

IT IS two years today that our region was devastated by the terrible floods of 2011.

The human cost in the region was horrific - 25 people dead.

There were 22 confirmed dead and three still remain missing.

The infrastructure repair costs, while substantial, pale in comparison to that shocking number.

Time is healing many wounds but, for those who were at the heart of the drama, memories are still raw.

Many still do not have their homes and lives back in order.

But the strongest memories of that time will always be how our community banded together and showed real spirit.

The best of what makes Toowoomba so special was on display.

People opened their hearts and, in many cases, their homes to those devastated survivors.

Today, take a moment to pray for those who lost loved ones.
