IF you're thinking about getting a special Christmas present for that special person why not visit the Tweed River Art Gallery this coming Saturday, November 24.
The Friends of the Tweed River Art Gallery group is hosting its third Artisan Handcrafted Market, where people can buy something different from the mass produced store items and get their hands on some handmade goods produced by selected local artisans.
President of the friends lyn Stewart said the friends were expecting large numbers of shoppers to attend the gallery on the day.
"We'll be ready for the 10.00 am rush when we open the doors," Mrs Stewart said.
Market coordinator Ellie Beck has been busy setting up stalls, experience tells her will please, with jewellery pieces from Adelaide Friday, necklaces from Michelle Bevis and funky, colourful bangles by Sam Mesina for sale.
Lucy Vanstone's ceramic items would beautify any home and Lisa Gair's artworks including beakers, candle bowls and other pieces add bold and delicate imagery to the gallery's market.
Handmade textiles are another feature of the market as are handbags, purses from Margeaux Davis Red Tree Designs which showcase fabric and lace.
Ellie Beck's hand screen printed organic textiles and homewares will be available while textiles of another sort such as Helle Jorgensen's crochet pieces are lovely to view and hold and will share the limelight with Ms Beck's striking imagery.
Paper and cards will also be on show including the works of Jo Olive and Belinda Kemp who make original prints and greeting cards among other gift ideas.
The Artisan Craft Market featuring ceramics, jewellery, crochet, clothes, basketry and candles will start at 10.00 am until 4.00 pm at the Tweed River Art Gallery and entry is free.
Purchases from the market are cash sales only.
