THREE men armed with a sledgehammer reversed a ute through a window of a Hastings Point petrol station last night.

About 3.10am, once inside the Tweed Coast Rd premises, the men attempted to access the ATM using the sledgehammer.

"After unsuccessful attempts to access the machine the men attempted to remove it by reversing the ute into the premises several times," a police statement said.
