THE events leading up to a fatal crash on November 30 at Tweed Heads are still unclear and police are trying to find answers.

This afternoon police from Richmond Crash Investigation Unit reissued their appeal for help from the public.

They want to speak to the driver of a white VN or VT model Holden Commodore, with large chrome rims and low profile tyres.

"It is believed the Commodore has damage to the front passenger side," Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Gary Cowan said.

"The driver is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 30-years-old, with short hair and a solid/muscular build."

Insp Cowan said the man stopped and rendered assistance before leaving the scene on November 30.

The crash killed Varsity Lakes man Ricky Shiu.

The 63-year-old left behind his wife Stella and their children and grandchildren.

The 28-year-old female driver of the van from Bilambil is still in hospital with spinal injuries.

A 49-year-old male taxi driver from Tweed Heads West was treated for minor injuries.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
