Information on post-flood waste collection now available

DETAILS of post-flood waste management arrangements have been released.

Domestic waste Collections:

Domestic waste (green, yellow, red bins) services are now resuming as normal.

Where possible, the waste collection contractor is trying to catch up on missed services as the flood waters recede.

In the Lower Clarence region the contractor will be concentrating on areas which missed the regular red bin collection as soon as access is available.

Householders are therefore requested to leave their red bins out for collection.

Waste Transfer Stations:

The Grafton Regional Landfill and Waste Transfer Stations at Grafton, Maclean, Copmanhurst and Glenreagh are accepting genuine flood damaged material (including waste from missed services) for free until February 10, 2013.

Please note that dangerous or hazardous items such as asbestos will not be accepted.

Flood Damage Clean-up:

Council will also be undertaking a targeted kerbside cleanup starting Tuesday, February 5, 2013 for properties which were inundated.

The clean-up will be done in the inundated areas of Palmers Island, Harwood, Brushgrove, Cowper, Tucabia, Southgate and Lawrence.

If you live outside these village areas and were inundated please call the waste hotline on 1800 335 599 to organise a collection.

Items for the kerbside cleanup should be left on the kerbside and only household flood affected items will be collected. No dangerous or hazardous items will be collected.

Annual Kerbside Clean-up:

Council's annual kerbside clean-up service will be commencing on Monday, February 11, 2013.

Further information on this service, including the collection schedule, will be delivered to your letterbox, included in Council advertisements and available on Councils website www.clarence.nsw.gov.au.
