AUSTRALIAN hockey player Jason Wilson's dreams of dominating the hockey field have come true.

The Kingscliff boy and his team walked away from the Champions Trophy tournament in Melbourne with gold, for the third year in a row, on Sunday.

"It's a pretty big deal," he said.

"We played in front of a massive crowd and with a newish team so it was really good to win."

The Australia men's national field hockey team aka the Kookaburras have won 13 Champions Trophies since the competitions inception in 1978.

Throughout the 10 days of competition the Kookaburras won six games straight

Next year is also looking like a massive one for the 25-year-old athlete who has just been announced as part of the 2013 national squad.

"Early next year I'll be moving back to Perth and then will head to India," he said.

On December 17 Wilson will find out what team has bid on him for the Hockey India League, which is an identical concept to cricket's Indian Premier League.

Wilson said he'd love the opportunity to play for the big crows of at least 20,000 spectators at each game.

"It's pretty alive," he said.

With 15 years of playing experience under his belt Wilson said it would not have been possible without his mum.

"She played a bit part in it all," he said.
