KINGSCLIFF will host a triathlon for the fourth year in a row in March.

Event organisers of the Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Triathlon Multisport Weekend said the coastal town was emerging as a sports tourism destination in Northern NSW.

QSMsports general manager Michael Crawley said the event was being built to be the next Noosa or Mooloolaba festival.

"This was the best event yet can we can only improve," Mr Crawley said.

"We are establishing a vibrant and growing event in the community and together with local businesses.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the many weekend visitors for the seventh time."

The triathlon is staged two times a year.

The event has grown from only offering a short distance triathlon to its participants to a complete festival held over one weekend including a 5km fun run and a 62km social ride on the Saturday and the triathlon activities on the Sunday.

The Kingscliff Triathlon is on March 9-10.
