TODAY, Grafton couple Michael and Debbie Looker will gaze into each other's eyes and celebrate 27 blissful years together.

Each year on February 14, the Lookers share a kiss and a cuddle and toast another year of happiness.

But this year they will celebrate their first Valentine's Day as a married couple after saying "I do" on December 29.

Although their daughter Nikita Looker laughed when asked if her parents had chosen to wait until they were 100% sure they had found true love, she said it was love at first sight when Michael and Debbie met as teenagers.

"When my parents first met my dad was 17 and my mum was 13. They got together and started dating on Valentine's Day and they have been together ever since," Nikita said.

"They had been engaged for around 18 years but they told me they had wanted to wait until my brother Benjamin and I were old enough to be involved in their wedding. They wanted me to be the maid of honour and Ben to be the best man.

"Last year they finally got married and my children Ella, 4, and Ty, 2, were also able to be at their wedding."

Nikita said she had never seen a man love a woman as much.

"My dad absolutely adores the ground my mum walks on," she said.

Although their union is overflowing with love and they have been blessed with children and grandchildren, Nikita said her parents' relationship wasn't welcomed by everyone.

"My maternal grandparents didn't like my dad and didn't allow him to date my mum," she said.

"I think that was because my dad was a few years older and he had a driver's licence.

"Five years after they got together, my mum announced she was pregnant with my older brother and my grandparents finally accepted their relationship. Now they adore my dad."

Describing her parents as loving and hard working, Nikita said she and her brother were given the best of everything growing up.

"They always did whatever they could to give us what Ben and I wanted," she said.
