Man in van caught with drug stash and cash

AN alleged drug dealer will face court after he was busted with quantities of cannabis, amphetamine, MDMA and LSD in the back of his van.

Tweed-Byron and Highway Patrol Command stopped a northbound Mercedes van on the Pacific Hwy at Duranbah on Monday afternoon.

Officers originally stopped the driver for a random breath test but ended up searching the van. 

They found the stash of illegal drugs and a wad of cash.

The 34-year-old man from the Mullumbimby area will appear in court .

He's charged with possessing a prohibited drug and supplying (deemed) a prohibited drug.

The man was issued with Field Court Attendance Notices for posess prohibited drug to attend Tweed Heads Local Court on April 8

"It was good work by the police and the highway patrol," crime manager Acting Inspector Saul Wiseman said.

"Highway patrol did a great job in detecting the offender."

Police are continuing their inquiries in relation to a sum of cash the man had in his possession.
