Matt Dunn lands a treble at M’bah races on Sunday

MURWILLUMBAH trainer Matt Dunn continued with his winning ways landing a treble at yesterday's Murwillumbah races.

When Congo took out the fourth of the day, it was the third of Dunn's runners to salute the judge in as many races, capping off the winning efforts of stablemates Miss Fency and Empress In Flight.

The trio were partnered by jockey Glen Colless and help extend Dunn's already impressive 2012/13 Murwillumbah season tally.

Senior rider Colless quickly stretched his winning run to four on the trot when Harley Down got up in a photo in the fifth for Grafton based trainer Graeme Want.

Summer sunshine and mild conditions ensured there were patrons aplenty to witness the day's impressive feats at what was the Northern Rivers Racing Association's last meeting for 2012.

Tweed River Jockey Club secretary-manager Rachael Elliott said it was a successful day for the club with a big holiday crowd swelling expected numbers. Official estimates of patrons through the turnstiles stood at well over 800 half way through the meeting.

Even before starters began to parade for the day's first event, parking was at a premium along Racecourse Rd with organisers quickly opening the second of the jockey club's car parks to accommodate race day vehicles.

"We're very pleased with today's enthusiastic turnout, and it's been a really terrific day, with lots of holiday makers here and many families," Ms Elliott said.

"We couldn't have asked for more, weather-wise, and it's been a great day all round with some really exciting racing."

"The track itself has never looked better, and the racing surface is that impressive you could be at Randwick."

In the day's feature 2020m Dunloe Sands Benchmark 60 handicap another locally trained galloper $2.70 favourite Leica Bita Lippy, prepared by Carolyn Halliday, took out the event from Oriental Grace and Deebee Cooper.

Murwillumbah's next meeting is on Monday 14 January.
