McDermott must be mad with Readings poor performance in EPL

READING manager Brian McDermott has not had a great week - he has not had a great season to-date to be honest.

His team has won just once this campaign and is firmly entrenched at the bottom of the EPL ladder after Tuesday's 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal.

That was Reading's sixth consecutive defeat and, just when you thought it could not get any worse for McDermott, he was refused entry to watch his reserve side in action at Bournemouth after a steward at the ground refused to allow him to enter as he could not prove his identity.

The embarrassing incident must have left McDermott wondering when his luck will change, hopefully sooner rather than later otherwise he might be out of a job.

It won't get any easier today as Reading are at second-placed Manchester City.

The team one-point ahead of Reading, QPR, who won for the first time this season after beating Fulham 2-1 last week, play Newcastle away.

Wigan, the other team in the relegation zone, host fifth-placed Arsenal.

In other games, Tottenham host Stoke, Everton are at West Ham, West Brom face Norwich, Southampton take on Sunderland and Liverpool play Fulham.

Competition leaders Manchester United, who are six points clear of Manchester City, will be hoping to win six on the trot when they play Swansea tomorrow, while Chelsea is at home to Aston Villa.

It will be a huge test for Chelsea with the players' fifth game in two weeks following an EPL win against Sunderland, their two games in the Club World Cup in Japan and the League Cup win against Leeds this week.
