Mums and mums-to-be to swap experiences for good cause

MUMS and mums-to-be have the chance to swap experiences while promoting awareness of mental health issues around this time of their lives.

The Clarence Valley Mental Health Service together with the Maternity and Child and Family Health Unit, will host a "Mum's Morning Tea" for local mums and mums-to-be tomorrow

The event will be part of Post Natal Depression Week.

Clarence Valley Mental Health spokeswoman Fiona Lynch said the aim of this morning tea is to promote awareness of antenatal and postnatal depression and other mental health problems that can occur during this time.

It also aims to encourage women to seek help early and to break down some of the stigma surrounding this common health issue.

"The intention of holding this event is to raise awareness on looking after yourself and each other, at such a beautiful and rewarding time of a woman's life."

"We will have health professionals on hand to discuss any issues and/or concerns mums may have. It is also about having time out to relax and chat to other local mums and expectant mums in the community and share experiences and tips on motherhood with other local mums," Ms Lynch said.

Light refreshments will be available, so come along for a relaxed morning tea!

The Mum's Morning Tea will be held between 10am and noon in Market Square, Prince Street Grafton.
