Mur'bah goes to the dogs with 470 entries in kennel show

THE Combined Northern Rivers Kennel Club show was a great success despite last weekend's temperamental weather conditions.

The show, run by a combination of Tweed shire kennel clubs, had 470 entries.

Although numbers were slightly down from last year Tweed Kennel Canine Club member Sandra Webster said it was still busy.

"Friday was by far the hottest day," she said.

"But we had so many people who all camped and came down to the country and western evening on the Saturday.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves over the whole weekend."

Mrs Webster said people travelled from Casino and Brisbane to show off their prized dogs at the event.

Four judges, Sid Munton and John Connell from Tasmania and Iris Glynn and Sue Foster from South Australia, came to pick and choose the best dogs.

Tweed Kennel Canine Club secretary Jenny Toyan said it was an interesting sight to see.

"When it came to the showings each judge picked a different dog," she said.

"All of the dogs were of such high quality and the judges said that, so it was a hard decision for them to make."

The event will be back at the showground next March.
