QANTAS Club has launched at Gold Coast airport and will let business and premium passengers relax in style.

Up to 125 passengers will use the Qantas Club luxury lounge at a time and the facilities include a business centre equipped with iMacs, a conference room and a fully stocked buffet.

Regional General Manager of Queensland and PNG Peter Collyns was joined by Getaway presenter Catrina Rowntree and Ironman Ky Hurst for a celebratory champagne high tea to open the facilities.

Qantas Domestic Chief Officer Lyell Strambi said Qantas was committed to providing excellent service to the Gold Coast and thought his airline offered the best travel experience on the coast.

"The opening of the Gold Coast Qantas Club is another step in the Qantas Group's commitment [to the] south-east Queensland region. The Qantas group now operates up to 189 domestic flights per week to the Gold Coast," he said.

Mr Strambi said he was happy with Qantas' operations in the area, and that the new lounge would attract a bevy of international and domestic passengers.

"The Sydney-Gold Coast route has exceeded our expectations in the first month of operation with continued strong bookings for both premium leisure and business travellers, and there's been a significant interest from international passengers. We've seen passengers from more than 40 countries on our flights into the Gold Coast since services were launched," he said.

The air carrier has also installed an express business security lane and smart kiosks at the Gold Coast airport to improve waiting times for customers.

Qantas has 34 of the club lounges nationally, and is constantly adding and improving the lounges with the help of customer feedback.
