CURRUMBIN MP Jann Stuckey announced that five community groups will receive over $124,000 in much needed funding.

The Jupiter's Casino and Gambling Community Benefit funds provided the cash from the Queensland Government, which will help support vital community programs.

Tugun Surf Life Saving Club, Point Danger Surf Life Saving, Anglican Parish of Palm Beach and Coolangatta, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and the Southern Gold Coast 60 and Better Program all benefited from the funding.

Tugun Surf Club was allocated cash for new Inflatable Rescue Boats and to fix plumbing, while Point Danger Surf Life Saving will spend its cash on replacing a 4WD vehicle.

Currumbin Wildlife Hospital will be conducting its Animals with Attitude project with the funding, and the Anglican Parish of Palm Beach and Coolangatta will be upgrading its community hall.

The 60 and Better program will be upgrading their building and signage with the money.

Ms Stuckey was glad to see the state government providing support for the community groups.

"These grant programs provide much needed funds for community groups to help them provide the facilities and activities which make our communities better places," she said.

The funding was raised thanks to taxes on casinos and gambling, and will be distributed as one-off payments.
