New Years Eve: Follow our live party blog

1AM: And for those of you still awake - and who missed the fireworks shown below - there's a highlight video linked to this page. Take a look at a great way to ring in the new year.

12:10AM: The fireworks might have come in a few minutes early - but they sure went off with a bang. Massive explosions of light and colour explode over the top of Yamba's Main Beach and the Pacific Hotel to a huge crowd lining both sides of the foreshore.

Midnight: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

11.30PM: The party is well and truly under way at the Pacific Hotel. Crowded to the max - the dance floor is being pounded with some live beats and electronica, and it is dancing room only.

11PM: The Yamba Shores Tavern has a mix of relaxed atmosphere outside, and pumping beats inside, with a small but enthusiastic crowd taking up residence in front of the DJ booth on the dance floor.

10.30PM: Meanwhile at the Yamba Bowlo, it's a young and local crowd being whipped into a frenzy on the dance floor by local young rockers The Easy Escape. Here's them tagging a typical rock ending onto the Living End's "Roll On"

10.15 PM: There's a relaxed vibe at the The Block with a DJ spinning some nice ambient tunes, and the cowd relaxing on the street or on the couches in side. A real cross-section of the community with locals and tourists aloke mixing at the Backpackers.

9.30 PM: The fireworks are late starting, but well worth the wait for the thousand strong crowd. A large display has the crowd oohing and aahing at every explosion.

8:45PM: The band at the golf club is ringing over the greens and onto the streets - and there's a real laid back family feel out by the course. Check out this video overlooking the 18th green:

8 PM: Paul and Oliver Egan, Marita and Margie Stapleton and Henry and Jo Egan of Brisbane have a family get together on New Years Eve at the carnival

7:50PM: The light is dropping and the crowd is building at Ford Park. The favourite rides are getting a real workout - and some people are already marking out their space for the fireworks

7PM: The weather is perfect in Yamba in preparation for the New Years Eve celebrations, and the dining venues around Yamba are full to the brim in preparation for a big night of celebration. We'll be visiting all the venues tonight and bringing you the colour, the pictures, some videos and of course all the action of the entertainment places. The crowds are starting to move towards Ford Park for the sideshow carnival and the council fireworks that commence at 9pm.
