Body of missing teenager was found by a family member

A FAMILY member found the body of missing teen Dylan Daure, police have confirmed.

The talented rugby player's body was found on a vacant block behind the Middy's Complex  late yesterday afternoon and police were called to the scene.

It is believed the body had been there for two days, around the same time the 19-year-old went missing on Saturday.

Police are still trying to solve the puzzle of how the body came to be there.

A crime scene was established on Ballinger Rd, as well as at units on Ballinger Ct.

That was where a forensic team began investigations.

Sunshine Coast District police duty officer Senior Sergeant Peter McGregor said the death did not appear suspicious.

"We are following up a number of avenues and inquiries to try to establish the movements of the male prior to his death," Snr Sgt McGregor said.

"We have obtained the services of the government pathologist to view and examine the deceased person to determine whether anything suspicious has occurred.

"If there is anything at all which may indicate that his death could be suspicious then we will treat it as an unnatural death. At this stage there is nothing suspicious, but it is up to the experts to determine the cause."

Dylan was last seen by family members leaving the Buderim Tavern on Burnett St about 12.30am Saturday.

His clothes and mobile phone were found at Buderim Mountain State School the following day.

SES crews, police and swift water rescue teams spent three days searching areas around Martins Creek and Buderim Forest Park, where it is believed Dylan may have gone.

Family and friends joined in the search earlier yesterday by doorknocking nearby homes and asking residents to check under their houses and the far corners of their blocks.

A plea also went out on Facebook following an emotional statement from Dylan's grandfather, Noel Gibson.

Dylan's disappearance was described by his family as out of character.

Snr Sgt McGregor said 24-hour security surveillance at the shopping complex could give police some clues.

"What led to where he came from to where he ended up, we don't know and this is what we have to determine," he said.

The body was removed from the site last night.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
