Raised eyebrows no barrier to true love for this couple

Linc Phelps and Stacey Lowe aren't letting age get in the way of love.

WHEN it comes to love this Valentine's Day, Gympie couple Linc Phelps and Stacey Lowe say they have found it in each other.

The pair has been together for just over five months now and says love knows no bounds; you can't help who you fall in love with.

You see, Stacey and Linc have an age difference of 20 years.

Although she doesn't look it, Stacey is 40 and Linc 20.

The pair says their relationship has raised a few eyebrows in the community but they aren't deterred.

"The heart wants what the heart wants," Stacey said.

"We have the same zest for life; that's what transcends any age difference.

"Once you find that one person in the world that's worth fighting for nothing else matters," Linc said.

"Everything about the relationship is easy; we have said that from the start.

"I love everything about Stace," he said.

Listening to them gush over each other, one would think they would have big plans for Valentine's Day today.

Unfortunately the couple will be keeping an eye on the Royal Hotel's post-flood renovations for most of the day.

Stacey is the manager and Linc the duty manager, it's where they met.

At the time Linc, a musician, was playing a few gigs at the Royal but needed some extra work.

Stacey said he seemed trustworthy and honest and gave him a job at the hotel's bottle shop on the highway.

As time passed Stacey's then duty manager Carl Meyer resigned and she asked Linc if he would like the job.

While working together the pair became best of friends.

"When you spend 70 hours a week together you get to know someone pretty well," Linc said.

"Nothing romantic was happening but I like all the other staff we would do anything to help Stace."

When a rough patch came along in Stacey's personal life Linc became her confidant and best friend.

At the time romance was still the last thing on their minds.

"Both of us never expected anything to happen," Stacey said.

"But romance just blossomed."

The long hours worked in hospitality are hard on relationships, if your partner isn't in hospitality, according to Stacey.

"When you work together it's easier."

She said they always set aside personal time at the end of every day.

"When every one is in bed at night we make time for ourselves whether it's lying on the bed, playing music or singing songs - we make time for each other.

"I love Linc's honesty and generous spirit," Stacey said.

"I love his heart, soul, everything."
