Residents asked to share flood knowledge for new map

RESIDENTS living around Glenreagh on the Orara River have been asked to share their knowledge and experience of flooding in the area to help develop a flood study for Glenreagh.

Clarence Valley Council has contracted Consultants GHD to produce the study, as part of the NSW Government's Floodplain Risk Management Process.

Clarence Valley Mayor, Cr Richie Williamson, said "The aim of this study is to model flood behaviour using the available data, including information from local residents. The project team is keen to share the preliminary findings of the study, and where flooding has occurred at Glenreagh and the surrounding areas."

"We have completed many of the study tasks and are keen to share preliminary findings with the Glenreagh Community about where and when flooding has occurred in the past, as well as the behaviour of the flood waters," said GHD project manager Dr Rainer Berg.

Council has called a community meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 11 from 6pm til 8.30pm at Glenreagh School of Arts Hall at 62 Coramba Street, Glenreagh NSW 2450.

For further information about the Glenreagh Flood Study, residents can contact project manager Dr Berg at GHD on 6650 5602.
