DAVE Battah has impersonated music legend Rod Stewart for more than 15 years.

The epic stage show Forever Rod is coming to Twin Town Services Club on January 5.

Battah has spent thousands of hours studying and practising Rod's voice and style to perfectly duplicate all the music and moves.

In his spectacular two hour show, he effortlessly glides through all of Rod's big hits, from rowdy tunes such as Hot Legs and Do Ya' Think I'm Sexy, to romantic ballads such as The First Cut is the Deepest, Have I Told You Lately and Broken Arrow, to trademark ballads such as Sailing and Maggie May.

The Canadian-born singer said he is overwhelmed by his immense popularity in Australia, which has led to an invitation to perform a second tour down under in as many years.

"Last time I was in Australian, I played a number of venues in Sydney and had sell-out crowds," he said.

"In America, opportunities to see Rod Stewart live in concert probably come around more often than they do for Australian fans.

"It's great to hear people tell me that I have given them something that to them, is just as satisfying, and probably just as close, as they are ever likely to get to the real thing."

He said Rod Stewart had a deceptively high range and unique style which makes it difficult to imitate his voice.

"I count myself amongst the few vocalists in the world that can truly emulate Rod's voice," he said.

"I chose his music though because it is so lyrical and all of his songs are as popular today as they were when they were released.

"They also appeal to people of all ages, from all walks of life. I see teenagers, mums and dads, and grandparents at my shows, all equally having a great time, singing along and enjoying themselves. It's the same all around the world, wherever I play."

By chance, Battah met Rod Stewart's band when they were visiting Toronto for a concert at the Skydome.

They were so amazed by his likeness to Rod, they invited him backstage. Dave had the chance to meet the superstar, who said he was "flattered" that Dave had chosen to create a tribute show based around him and his music.

Tickets are $29 and can be purchased by calling 1800 014 014.
