Rojas to stay with Victory despite lure of overseas clubs

MOST of the talk during the January transfer window might be about who is going, but who is staying is even more important for some A-League clubs.

And heading that list is exciting Melbourne Victory winger Marco Rojas.

The 21-year-old New Zealand international has emerged as one of the keys to the Victory's prospects this season, especially with the news influential midfielder Gui Finkler will miss up to eight months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Western Sydney on Tuesday.

Rojas, whose contract is due to expire in April, said he wasn't interested in a move abroad.

"I'm going to be here until the end of the season. I started the season and I want to be here until the end," he said.

"Last season was disappointing and this season's been going all right so far.

"I want to make a proper impact before I think about going anywhere else."

Rojas, whose father also acts as his agent, said money was not an issue in deciding his next move.

"I'm not really worried about the money, it will be about developing my football first and then the money is a bonus," he said.

The good news has continued at Western Sydney with Adam D'Apuzzo and Shannon Cole re-signing with the club for the 2013/14 season.

D'Apuzzo, 26, said he was thrilled to be staying at the club which has defied all expectations to be in third place half-way through its debut season.

"There is fantastic morale among the team and to be part of a group of players that are such good personalities and humble at the same time is amazing," he said.
