Sarwan to rejoin West Indies squad for next month's ODIs

WEST Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan will end his 18-month international exile in Australia next month.

Sarwan, who last played a one-dayer for the Windies against India in June 2011, has been named in the 15-man touring party for the five ODIs and one T20 match.

A veteran of 173 ODIs, Sarwan fell out of favour with the West Indies Cricket Board after he voiced his opinions about coaching and training methods.

Since then he's won $A152,000 in damages from the Board for casting doubts on his fitness when his central contract wasn't renewed in 2010.

All-rounder Marlon Samuels was left out after he suffered a fractured eye socket when he was hit by a Lasith Malinga bouncer while batting for the Melbourne Renegades during the BBL showdown with the Melbourne Stars, and his absence opens the door for the return of left-hand bat Narsingh Deonarine, who last played in an ODI in 2010.
