KAITLIN Pardoe hasn't played club cricket for more than three years.

But you wouldn't have known it if you saw her in action for North Coast at the NSW PSSA girls championship at Lismore this week.

Pardoe returned from Lismore with a bag of wickets, a mountain of runs and a surprise selection in the NSW PSSA team.

Her mother, Leanne Pardoe, said she was shocked but excited at her daughter's selection.

"We're very proud of her," Ms Pardoe said. "To be honest I'm still surprised she got selected because she hasn't played for years.

"She did really well and we're all excited for her."

Ms Pardoe explained that the closest Kaitlin had gotten to club cricket was watching older brother and all-rounder Brayden play for Tucabia-Copmanhurst.

"She's been dragged from field to field for Brayden's cricket but hasn't taken the field herself," she said.

"She wasn't a cricketer before but she might be now."

Kaitlin's performances included an unbeaten 42 and 30 runs in two games on Wednesday.

The highlight of the tournament would certainly have been her bowling against Western on Thursday, when she picked up a three-wicket maiden on her way to 3-7.

The 12-year-old's achievements will rank her alongside some of the best young sportspeople in the Valley, after she represented the North Coast in tennis and hockey earlier this year.

"Kaitlin plays hockey and tennis and has been selected for North Coast in both of those sports," Ms Pardoe said.

"She played tennis in Sydney a few weeks ago and didn't go too badly.

"The Sydney comps are bit of a step up from what she's used to."

Kaitlin will play for NSW at the national titles in South Australia to be held later this year.

Whether she gets any match practice between now and then remains to be seen, with no concrete plans to join a club.

"I don't think she's decided yet but she might join one," Ms Pardoe said. "If she joins any, it'll be Tucabia but we'll wait and see."
