WHERE do you go when you want to unwind after one of the most memorable Test cricket matches in recent memory? If you are the South African cricket team you head to the Sunshine Coast.

Just days after drawing the opening game of the summer against Australia at the Gabba, members of the Proteas were letting their hair down on the Coast yesterday.

Captain Graeme Smith, pacemen Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, all-rounder Jacques Kallis and wicketkeeper AB de Villiers were among the group which travelled from Brisbane for some rest and relaxation.

The Daily caught up with Kallis, arguably the greatest ever all-rounder, as he finished a round of golf at Palm

er Coolum Resort.

While he politely declined our request for an interview, telling us he would get into trouble if he did not clear it with the South African media manager, he did have some kind words to say about the Coast.

"It's lovely, we've had a great day today, I love it up here," Kallis said as he finished off his round with Proteas trainer Robert Walter.

The South African team went their separate ways at the conclusion of the first Test on Tuesday, given four days off to enjoy the country.

The team will regroup in Brisbane on Sunday before flying to Adelaide for the second Test on Thursday.

While some members of the touring party chose to travel to other parts of the state, most were resting and relaxing on the Coast.

Batsmen Faf du Plessis tweeted pictures of himself on the beach while de Villiers used the social media to say how impressed he was with Noosa kiteboarders.
