THREE heats of the PFD Foodservices 5th Grade series will highlight the program at the Grafton Greyhound Racing Club today and the Andrew Monaghan-trained Hurricane Ash is likely to be one of the better bets of the day when he lines up in the third heat.

Hurricane Ash ran a great race last week to finish second behind Hipster Keenie, who won in a fast 23.03 seconds; the best time of the day.

The son of Pure Octane and Diamond Series has won in fast times at Ipswich and Lismore and although he is yet to register a win on the Grafton track after three starts, he looks ideally suited from box 1 this afternoon.

Hurricane Ash's conqueror last week, Hipster Keenie, also looks close to a good thing in her heat.

Although better drawn wide, Hipster Keenie appears to be facing a line-up no better than what she conquered last week and a repeat of her effort will be more than enough to take this out for her trainer Sonia Kempshall.

With all things being equal Hipster Keenie and Hurricane Ash will enjoy a return bout in the final.

The other heat looks to be an open affair with a number of legitimate chances.

The Stephen Attwater-trained Galileo Beach is perfectly drawn in box 8 as she will course closer to the outside fence than she will the inside so she has to be considered despite having not yet won at Grafton over the 407m journey.

Galileo Beach has recorded a handy 17.58sec for the 305m distance on the Grafton track and with that pace she should be in the firing line from the get go.

My Mate Sparrow also looms as a possible chance after displaying some good form around the Maitland circuit.

Although he has only won one from 10, he has been placed on six occasions.

Punters should keep an eye on the betting prior to this one as My Mate Sparrow is suited with the wide-running Galileo Beach outside him and the moderate beginning hard-railing Stop Scrammin' drawn inside him.

The Darryl Chapman-trained Last Stand is also expected to figure prominently.

Grafton Trainer of the Year Darryl Schafer looks likely to be in the winners' circle again today with his latest batch of youngsters to make their debuts this afternoon.

Gloria Trick looks very tough to beat from box 8 in the Iluka Bowls Club Maiden following her good 23.40sec performance trial win, Runya Roy should be one of the leading contenders in the Carters Canine Capers Maiden and Hughie Trick will have his admirers in the Hardware Shed Paint Place Maiden.

Gloria Trick and Hughie Trick are out of Schafer's former brilliant sprinter Within Site which was a Casino Cup winner while Runya Roy is an El Galo x Runya Beach youngster and all look to have bright futures.

Today's 10-event program is scheduled to commence at 2.17pm with the final race to jump at 5.09pm.
