AFTER another year of hard study, the Tweed's top dogs are taking a "paws" from the books to celebrate Christmas.

Santa "Claws" will be at their Dog's Christmas Party as they get recognised for their achievements through 2012.

The Top Dog Academy's giant mascot, Top Dog will lead the charge with doggy games and will judge "Best Dressed," "Best Trick," and "Handler/dog look alike" competitions.

Handlers and their dogs will run around with their furry friends trialling the agility equipment and experienced handlers will provide a demonstration on the agility circuit which includes a tunnel, jumps, the A-frame, weaving poles and a freestyle routine.

There will also be a demonstration of basic commands from Cubbi, a 20 week old deaf pup with only 50% sight who recently trained at Top Dog Academy.

Santa will arrive to pose with the pooches for the Christmas portraits and Top Dog Academy's family photo for 2012.
The furry gathering will be on Saturday December from 1.30 pm - 3.30 pm (NSW time) at Bogangar Public School, 123-147 Tweed Coast Rd Bogangar.

"It promises to be a great day," said local dog trainer Rhonda Robinson
