Tweed psychic says use colour to pick a Cup winner

CHOOSING a horse at this year's Melbourne Cup on the colour of the jockey's clothes might not be such a bad way to go.

Tweed psychic Gail Gorton would not make a prediction into the winner but said she would go with colour more than anything.

"First and foremost people should go with their first intuition," Ms Gorton said.

"I think that colour is very important in a person's life."

Ms Gorton said she suggested people took a punt when the "lucky" planet Jupiter and the "money" planet Venus were in play for that person's star sign.

Americain, winner of the race in 2010, was an early favourite to take out his second Melbourne Cup this year but has since eased to $8 while Dunadean and Mount Athos are now joint favourites on $7.

For the roughies Voila Ici is at $121, Tac De Boistron at $101 and Unusual Suspect certainly has a name that fits if it crossed the line first at $151.

The race is scheduled to run at 3pm.
