TUESDAY'S blue sky was only fleeting with showers expected for the Tweed across the next seven days.

The wild weather associated with ex-cyclone Oswald left the Tweed on its march south on Monday night but there is still unstable weather about.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the Tweed can expect showers today and for the rest of the week until a sunny Sunday then showers developing again on Monday.

The forecast for more showers comes after some record breaking falls for the Tweed.

Upper Rous River (Hopkins Creek) recorded the highest January four-day rainfall figures with 1027mm falling between January 26-29.

The region had 944mm in the three days from January 27, but it was not considered a record as observations only began in 2007.

The all time three day rainfall total record for NSW is 1090.2mm at Bowraville set in December 1975.
