A STOLEN Porsche worth more than $200,000 was found at Kennedy Dr yesterday afternoon.

The luxurious Porsche 911 coupe was stolen from a Brisbane residence in the early hours of Wednesday.

About 4.20pm yesterday an off-duty Gold Coast police officer spotted the car on the NSW side of the border and reported it to Tweed Heads Police.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Gary Cowan said highway patrol immediately attended the scene.

"Police observed the 22-year-old male offender standing at the front of the stolen Porsche," he said.

The car was originally crowded around by a group of young male and females.

When police approached the man at the front of the car another male fled the scene.

The other male, whose age is unknown, was located a short distance away in a residential backyard.

"Both men were quickly detained," Insp Cowan said.

Police also located a black Toyota Yarris at the scene which checks revealed to be stolen.

"Bail was refused to the 22-year-old Queensland man," he said.

"He will appear at Tweed Heads court house today."

A Queensland media police spokeswoman said the police helicopter observed the black Porsche for a short period of time before it crossed the border.

"It was excellent work by the off-duty police officer," Insp Cowan said.

"A number of persons were detained and two stolen vehicles were located."
