ESSENTIAL Energy is flying in crews to Uki to help 200 customers who are still without power.

The customers have been without power since a weather system associated with ex-cyclone Oswald crossed the Tweed on the Australia Day long weekend.

According to Essential Energy, workers will be flown into carry out repair work west of Uki, particularly around Dungay.

Receding flood waters and clearing of fallen trees and vegetation will also allow repairs and reconstruction around Burringbar and Clothiers Creek to take place.

Essential Energy acting regional general manager North Coast Daniel Bylsma said crews had been working long hours in difficult conditions, but had been bolstered by more than 100 reinforcements from outside the area.

"We had some wins overnight and today all our efforts will be focussed on repairing the high voltage network as quickly and safely as possible, which will get power back to the largest number of people," he said.

"As we complete repairs to the high voltage network, we will then be able to concentrate our resources on repairing the hundreds of low voltage service lines that have been damaged across the region."

About 6000 Essential Energy customers are still without power.
