Urquhart suffers first round loss in Hong Kong

A first round loss has seen Yamba's Donna Urquhart crash of the Hong Kong Open in the first round on Wednesday night.

Urquhart fell to Dane Line Hansen 11-4, 11-5, 13-11.

The news was better for compatriot Rachael Grinham who showed she was getting back to some of her best form after she dominated US player Latasha Khan.

Grinham took control from the very start and never relinquished it as she downed the American in straight games 11-7, 11-6, 11-4.

She now takes on Joshana Chinappa on Thursday following the Indian number two's surprise 5-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5 win over fourth seed and local favourite Annie Au.

Melbourne qualifier Melody Francis was eliminated by Malaysian Low Wee Wern 11-1, 11-2, 11-1.

Two other Australians also play their second round matches Thursday. Cameron Pilley is up against sixth seed Peter Barker of England, while Kasey Brown faces fifth seeded Irishwoman Madeline Perry.
