Thousands show up for Big Day Out 2014

THOUSANDS of punters streamed into the new home of the Gold Coast Big Day Out as the annual festival got underway at the weekend.

There was a lengthy queue outside Metricon Stadium and the Carrara Parklands on Sunday morning but it moved steadily as keen music-lovers got in early to soak up the sun and party vibes.

More than 35,000 tickets had been sold in the lead-up to the event which was headlined by Tame Impala, Arcade Fire and Pearl Jam.

Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion) was also expected to play his reggae set at the Red Stage.
