Airline celebrates 500,000 passengers with cheap flights

THERE is no better time for Tweed residents to pack their bags and look at a getaway in Asia.

A low-cost airline has started a sale to get people from the Gold Coast to some of Asia most thriving cities and tourist destinations, such as Bangkok, Singapore and Taipei.

Scoot airlines is offering flights from the Gold Coast to Singapore for $199 one way and flights to Bangkok for $238.

On Monday the airline celebrated its 500,000th passenger to fly with Scoot.

The guest was Roland Teh travelling together with his wife Mrs Queenie Teh and daughter Miss Annabelle Teh to Gold Coast.

Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson said it was another great milestone for Scoot that has grown from nothing to having carried half-a-million guests in such a short period of time.

"Today's dramatic expansion in the number of cities on offer is also great news for the traveller," Mr Wilson said.

From it base in Singapore, the airline and its partner airlines travel to 44 destinations across Asia.
