IT'S Show time for Alstonville.

The Alstonville Agricultural Society's 124th show - Ballina Shire's only show - will be held on Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, and organisers say it is shaping up to be the biggest show for many years.

"After a cool winter and perfect spring weather conditions, we are expecting record entries in many classes," the society said.

Friday is Pensioner Day, and the entertainment starts from 10.30am, with displays also in the pavilions. Ring events include cattle working dog trials all day and a full horse program.

The action continues on Saturday, with beef cattle and pony events in the ring.

At 2pm, the Grand Parade will take place, followed by the official opening of the show by Ken Gibson, a past-president of the Alstonville Agricultural Society. The announcement of the winners of the Showgirl and Miss Showgirl Competition will also take place.

From 2.45pm there will be ride-on lawn mower races, heats and finals of the rodeo as well as the popular three-legged and sack races for the kids.

New this year is Eljay Freestyle Entertainment with Motorbike and Pushbike Shows throughout the afternoon.

Admission charges: Adults $10, pensioners $7, students $5 (10 years and up to 16 years inclusive), children free (under 10 years), family pass $30 (two adults and up to four Children).

On Sunday, separate to the show, there will be the Camp Draft Spectacular.
