THE Caldera Art Gallery organizers expect hundreds of visitors to walk through the door by the end of the Tweed River Festival week this Sunday.

The artwork, on display in the Murwillumbah World Heritage Rainforest Centre positioned on Tweed Valley Way and Alma Street, is inspired by the unique biodiversity and cultural heritage of Mt Warning and the caldera.

Local artist and gallery director Andy Reimanis is pleased by the number of visitors to the gallery so far.

"It's a really interactive gallery, we have biodiversity art classes going on and we're always working on new projects," he said.

One is Australia's Green Cauldron Panorama Project which Mr. Reimanis has been working on since November last year.

The painting, which encompasses an entire room, is of the top view from Mt Warning and officially opens for public viewing on December 5.

With the project funded by the Tweed Shire Council, Mr. Reimanis hopes to liaise closer with the Tweed Council's Natural Resource Management team to have a permanent shop front to promote environmental awareness.

"We try to promote the biodiversity of the area," he said.

The gallery ranges from paintings of the surrounding landscape, to Aboriginal artifacts and local wildlife with price tags starting from $55 to $2400.
