Caulfield trainer convinced to give filly another run

IF THE price is right, why not go for it.

That's the theory Caulfield trainer Mick Price has used with promising filly Isabella Snowflake ahead of tomorrow's $80,000 Sportingbet Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

Price said he had planned to send the daughter of Not A Single Doubt for a spell after her third placing behind super impressive Shamal Wind at Flemington on Oaks Day, but the three-year-old has convinced him to give her another run.

"We're having a throw at some good prizemoney before we go to the paddock," Price said.

"I was nearly tempted to go to the paddock (after Flemington), but she has worked quite well since.

"I'm taking a bit of a risk that she's got enough energy left in her for this run, but I can only go on her work and her work is excellent."

Price has four runners engaged at the Valley, and Isabella Snowflake is the only one that wasn't a last-start winner, but a placing behind Shamal Wind could prove to be an excellent formline.

This time around the Price filly has another promising Darley youngster to contend with in Genteel.

A winner of three of her six starts, Genteel got to the line strongly to win the Schweppes (1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day and has been installed a $2.20 favourite with Tattsbet to repeat the dose.

Just seven runners have accepted for the race, and Isabella Snowflake ($2.70) should be very well suited by the small field and tight Moonee Valley circuit and prove hard for Genteel to run down.

Isabella Snowflake will carry 59kg after the claim by Chad Schofield.Price will send also first start winner Queen's Ransom around in the $80,000 LF Sign Group Handicap (1200m).

He admitted it was a step up from her win in an NMW race at Sandown in May, but said she should give a good account of herself.

"It's a big ask at her second start, especially against some nice fillies in a reasonable race, but she should run well," he said.
